Urban studies dictionary

Bantustan:
Any of several all-black enclaves formerly in the Republic of South Africa that had a limited degree of self-government.

By-pass road:
A high way road or a section of a highway that passes around an obstructed area
Example: road 60 in Palestinian territory.

Checkpoint:
A place along the road where travelers are stopped for inspection
But in Palestinian case to stop Palestinian citizens for inspection by Israeli authorities using the excuse of settlement security.
Example: Kalndia


Colony:
A body of people, who settle in a territory distant from their homeland but still maintain ties with it,
Example; Jamestown which is the first English colony in America.

Diaspora
any people or ethnic population forced or induced to leave their traditional ethnic homelands, being
dispersed throughout other parts of the world, and the ensuing developments in their dispersal and
culture.


Enclave:
A country or a part of a country lying wholly with the boundaries of another
Example: Julan

Neoliberalism :
 A political movement beginning in the 1960s that blends traditional liberal concerns for social justice with an emphasis on economic growth


Outpost:
A military post stationed at a distance from the main body troops it could be the start of a new settlement.

Settlement:
A body of people who settle far from home  but still maintain some ties with their homeland ;
Inhabitants remain nationals of their home state but are not literally under the home state's system of
Government,
Example:  Adora , an Israeli settlement in Palestine.

Terminal:
Boundary growing at the end of branch or steam
Example : Al-lembi terminal
